Four Decades on the Bank
Always Angling grew out of a lifelong obsession with British coarse and carp fishing. Based in Bristol, I’ve spent over 40 years sitting behind bite indicators, watching float tips bob on mist-covered margins, and chasing fish across the waters of the West Country and beyond.
Whether freelining bread crust on a sleepy old pond or watching dawn break over a gravel pit, angling for me has always been about the atmosphere, the patience, and the deeper connection to the water.
The Science Behind the Bite
In 2025, I launched the Always Angling YouTube channel to dive beneath the surface – quite literally. Instead of standard session vlogs, the channel explores the science of fish behavior: low-light feeding dynamics, aquatic biology, underwater senses, and how water chemistry dictates feeding windows. Understanding why fish act the way they do isn’t just fascinating; it makes us all more thoughtful, effective anglers.
